Lunchtime Conversation

Dad: That’s a bigger piece of quesadilla than normal.

Ben: What did you say, Daddy?

Dad: Space aliens have stolen my walrus.

Mum:  snorts with laughter and nearly spits out lunch.

Ben: No.

Ben: You still have your walrus. It’s just sleeping.

Dad and Mum:  snort with laughter.

(The silly answer is because Ben asks this question a million times a day. It gets tiring repeating the same thing over and over. So maybe we’ll try being more creative. It’s amusing, at least.)

THREE!

Ben turned three years old on Saturday. We had a big birthday party with lots of kids, lots of adults, and lots of beachballs. We had hoped to have suitable weather for filling the inflatable pool and expected the beachballs to be flung around the yard along with much splashing. Unfortunately, just as we laid out the last bit of food, the rain started, so we moved it all inside. The beachballs got flung around the house instead, causing much screaming and laughter and general chaos. It was fun anyway. The rain didn’t last too long so we were able to get outside for the cake. Ben had a great day.

We weren’t good about getting photos during the party, sorry. Too busy socializing and playing. πŸ™‚ But there’s one of the cakes (blue was wheat/dairy free, others were normal chocolate cake), and then a bunch of pics of our brand new three-year-old.

Quarter birthday and Matching Boys

Today Timothy turned 3 months old. In the last couple of weeks he has gained a lot of head control and shown a lot of personality. He smiles often, laughs at us, coos and chirps and makes all sorts of delightful baby noises, and still sleeps pretty well, at least at night. He’s fascinated with his big brother and loves to watch everything he does, making daytime sleep somewhat less appealing. He’s starting to watch what we eat with interest already, but he’s got 3 more months to wait before he gets to try some, which Ben loves to gleefully remind him of at each mealtime. A couple of days ago he rolled over from tummy to back for the first time, making tummy time harder to enforce. He’s been trying his hardest to roll from back to tummy, too, but hasn’t quite made it past his side. He weighs probably a little over 17lbs, significantly less than Ben did, although still on the high end of all the growth charts.

To celebrate the quarter birthday, we took some pictures of the boys together, in their one and only matching outfit.

Snow! Again!

Timothy saw his first snow last week. It started on Wednesday morning, and by that evening we had about 4 inches. School was cancelled again on Thursday. We all went out to play while it was snowing, even Timothy. He was very well bundled up, but still only out for about 5 minutes. Ben and Dad built a great huge snowman with a very unusual head. πŸ™‚

And yesterday, the temperature was 70ºF. Crazy weather.

Brothers

Now that he’s not sick anymore, Ben has been very interested in holding his little brother. He does a pretty good job, and he seems so proud of being the big brother. πŸ™‚
